Novel connection. When Richie punches Russell in the face, his mother wants to call the principal, however, Russell wants to keep quiet about the whole incident. Russell’s mom’s response was, “I’m not doing nothing. If one adult did this to another, he be in jail. Why should it be different for kids?” (p. 45)
Blog Question: Should kids solve their own problems or should adults/parents get involved? Explain.
I think kids to solve their own problems. If the kids gets the parents involved I think that the parents will get more worried they'll always think about their kids problems get distracted in their works and all. Here Russel did tell his problems to his mom which I think he should not have, his mom is worring about him and his friends a lot , but his mother also helped him, picking Catalina up from her home and taking them to the hospital. His mother was not helpful from my side I think he just could keep quiet, and keep it away from his mother. As soon as she got to know Russel was hit she anted to call the principal and all that she created a CHAOS.So all together I think he could solve his own problem instead of making his mother worried and think about it all day.
